The clay for this piece comes from Springfield, MN, where it was used for brick production by Minnesota’s last brick manufacturer, Acme-Ochs Brick & Tile, Co.The shiboridashi form is perfect for brewing Japanese green tea, as the wide base allows for proper water coolong, leaf expansion, and gentle pouring.
Made from clays hand-dug by the artist from various locations throughout Minnesota. Mitch tests all of his clay for heavy metals and other contaminants to ensure they are food safe.
